From anywhere in the city, visitors can see the most beautiful postcard of Rio de Janeiro: The Christ the Redeemer on the Corcovado mountain. This statue, located 710 meters above sea level, was inaugurated in 1931 and since then is one of the most visited tourist spots in the city. The tour begins in the Cosme Velho neighborhood where you will take the famous Corcovado Train or Vans de Turismo which travel through the Tijuca Forest with wonderful panoramic views of the largest urban forest in the world. A really lovely walk where carioca urbanism and its exuberant nature combine. From the feet of the Christ, the visitor will discover the best panoramic views of the city of Rio, including Guanabara Bay, Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, among others, and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Once the visit to Christ is finished, the descent of the Corcovado in the Train or in the Vans will proceed to the same place of embarkation.
Next to the Sugarloaf with City Tour. This tour begins with a tour of the Center of the city of Rio de Janeiro with a highlight for the Sambodromo, where parades of samba schools take place during the most famous carnival in the world, the Metropolitan Cathedral in the form of Pyramid with an internal diameter of 96 meters and a height of 80 meters, and the traditional Cinelandia with the Municipal Theater, the National Library and the Assembly building. After touring the center, the tour continues through the Flamengo neighborhood in the direction of Urca, where the other symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro is located: The Pan de Azucar, which in Guaraní language means “high mountain, with tip and isolated ”. It was at the foot of this hill that the city of Rio de Janeiro was founded by Estadio de Sá in 1565.
The visit to the Sugar Loaf is carried out in two stages by a cable car, the famous “bondinho”, suspended by steel cables. The first stage connects Vermelha Beach to Morro de Urca located at 215 meters high and from where you can see Guanabara Bay and its islands, Flamengo Beach, Morro del Corcovado and the bridge that connects Rio to Niteroi. From the Morro de Urca, the second part of the ascent towards the Sugar Loaf begins at 395 meters high where there is a unique view of Copacabana Beach and the Fortress of Santa Cruz and some Niteroi beaches. After staying on the Sugarloaf balconies, the descent will be done using the same bondinho. At the end of the excursion you are going to be transferred back to your hotel.
